About

"Bitcoin-friendly" is six claims. We check them separately.

A company can accept Bitcoin at the register, pay its engineers in sats, or do neither, and still call itself Bitcoin-friendly. Candidates deserve to know which one they are looking at, with a source attached.

Why this exists

Job listings and "Bitcoin-friendly" employer lists tend to collapse a lot of different facts into one warm phrase. An employer might genuinely pay part of payroll in BTC, or it might have tweeted about Bitcoin twice in 2021. From outside, both read the same. From inside a candidate's decision, they are nothing alike.

BTC Employers exists to pull those claims apart. Instead of one badge that means everything and nothing, the index tracks six separate signals, and each one names its own evidence: what counts, and what does not.

What we believe

  • A claim without a source is marketing, not information.
  • Candidates evaluating an employer's Bitcoin practices deserve the same rigor as any other due diligence.
  • An index that sells inclusion stops being an index. Ours does not.

A note from the founder: I built this for one reason - you should be able to work where your values actually work, and until now you had to guess. The index runs on a standing order that keeps it honest: when a record is wrong, the correction publishes on schedule, even when the employer in it is paying us. Hold us to that on the corrections page.

Who runs this

BTC Employers is independently operated. We are not owned by, and do not answer to, any exchange, payroll provider, or employer that appears in the index. No listed employer's payment changes what its record says.

Every dollar (or sat) of revenue comes from two labeled services, described in full on the independence policy: a paid verification review, and a paid, clearly disclosed Spotlight placement. Neither purchase touches editorial findings, and inclusion itself has never been for sale.

What "evidence, not vibes" means in practice

Every signal on an employer's profile links to a source and a date we observed it. When we get something wrong, the fix is public and dated through our corrections process. That is the whole model: check the claim, show the work, and keep the record honest even when it is inconvenient.
